As our Special Needs Ballroom Program continues to grow, we’d love to continue to spotlight our amazing students! Meet Liz, pictured dancing at a recent wedding (her mother, Ruth, told us she never leaves the dance floor at wedding receptions). Liz has been a Yes, You Can Dance! Special Needs Ballroom student since the winter of 2015, but has been dancing ever since she was 3 years old! Liz is also a dancer in the Art of Performance class, and looks forward to her first performance with the Performance Team! When asked why she dances, Liz responded, ” Dancing makes people feel very happy, special, proud, and last but not least, dancing is something fun to do because it makes people want to be very creative, since they create different dances.”
Besides dancing, Liz keeps busy reading, watching movies, attending musicals and staying in touch with friends and family. She enjoys working out at Zumba Fitness and occasionally she can be seen riding a tandem bike with her mom or dad along Pittsburgh’s trails. Liz volunteers at UPMC Shadyside Hospital and at Global Links, and also works at the podiatry office of Dr. Anita Onufer in Forest Hills.
